Workers who may be exposed to hazardous materials are required to undergo an annual physical intended to identify changes in health that would indicate excessive exposure to the hazardous material in question.
A HAZMAT physical is similar to other medical surveillance exams in that our occupational health experts will review your worker’s medical and work history, especially any prior exposure to hazardous materials. We also review your protocols, the employee’s job description and level of exposure to hazardous materials.
The specific requirements of the examination vary based on the possible exposure. OSHA provides standards for the types and frequency of testing in their Medical Screening and Surveillance Requirements in OSHA Standards document.
