Audio testing is essential in the workplace. It not only identifies existing hearing loss, but also establishes a baseline for future employee evaluations.
In many industries, employees are exposed to noise levels that can impact both safety and job performance. Because of this, OSHA requires employers to implement a hearing conservation program once certain exposure thresholds are met, including ongoing monitoring and audiometric testing. This testing should not be limited to new hires, but conducted regularly across your workforce when applicable.
If you’re unsure whether your organization meets these requirements, we encourage you to review OSHA’s noise exposure standard here.
